7 SWF Movie Concepts

An SWF movie is a compressed binary document that represents a Flash movie that can be played using the Flash Player browser plug-in. The SWF contains definitions for all the symbols used in the movie including graphical symbols, multimedia resources, fonts, animations and the main timeline. This section will introduce the components of a movie in preparation for working with RVML.

All symbols in an SWF are assigned a unique numeric identifier.
